Iannis is one of Kalymnos’ classic climbing sectors, located just above Masouri and offering breathtaking views over the island of Telendos. With beautiful limestone, elegant lines and a relatively short approach, it’s a favourite for many visiting climbers.
Climbing at Iannis is mostly on vertical to slightly overhanging walls, with featured rock that offers pockets, crimps and technical sequences. Most routes fall in the 6b to 7c range, with a few slightly easier options, but overall this is a sector best suited to intermediate and advanced climbers looking for quality mid-grade climbs.
The approach takes around 15 minutes from Masouri along a clear but occasionally steep path. The orientation helps provide pleasant conditions during much of the season, with cooler temperatures in the morning and beautiful light in the late afternoon.
