Spartacus is one of Kalymnos’ most iconic climbing sectors, located just below the Grande Grotta. Featuring striking tufa formations, slightly overhanging walls and athletic sequences, it attracts climbers who want to experience the island’s world-famous limestone at its best.
The climbing here ranges mainly from 6b to 8a, with a strong selection of pumping tufa lines that require solid endurance, core strength and confident movement. Spartacus is ideal for advanced climbers, but also offers a few mid-grade routes perfect for those experiencing tufa climbing for the first time.
The rock quality is excellent, with long, continuous lines that flow beautifully between tufas, pinches and sculpted limestone. Bolting is modern and reliable, making it a great sector for pushing your grade safely.
The approach from Masouri takes around 15 minutes along a well-traveled path, with impressive views of the sea and Telendos as you gain height.
